From Sketchbook to Snow: Designing Limited-Edition Trailblaze Slopes Merch
I’ll be honest. I’m not exactly what you’d call “built for the cold.” Snowy slopes? Minus-20 temps? Not my natural habitat. But when the team at Trailblaze Slopes asked me to design a limited-edition merch line inspired by the park, I couldn’t resist. There’s something about the energy, the colors, and yes, the sheer epicness of a mountain sunrise, that makes you want to create even if your fingers are slowly freezing. I had this vision of bold, playful designs that capture the feeling of being on the slopes: the rush of a first turn, the excitement of the terrain park, the thrill of the backcountry. And of course, I had to sneak in a little humor. One of my favorite pieces, a soft, oversized hoodie, features a [when I get to this, I’ll write about it in detail here lol]. Yes, it’s cheesy. Yes, I love it. And yes, I hope you love it too. The fun really hit me when I got to visit the mountain to experience the inspiration firsthand. There I was, layers on layers, mittens so big I could barely sketch, and suddenly, the urge to belt out “Let It Go” from the summit was too strong. I may not live for the cold, but I live for that Frozen-moment that the mountain somehow makes possible. And if you’ve ever sung your lungs out at 7,500 feet with nothing but snow and wind around you, you’ll understand. Collaborating with Trailblaze Slopes wasn’t just about designing merch. It was about translating the personality of the park, the energy, the creativity, and the sense of freedom, into something you can wear off the mountain, too. Every sweatshirt, beanie, and t-shirt tells a little story, and I’m proud that even someone like me, who normally avoids frostbite, could contribute to it. For anyone snagging this merch: it’s not just stylish. It’s a memory you can take home.
